Social Welfare and Public Health in Cuba
August 2 – 15, 2015
Cuba has provided universal and free public health and social welfare services to all its citizens, including those in the most remote rural areas, since the beginning of the revolution over five decades ago.
Eco Cuba Network is organizing a two week Cuba tour focused on Social Welfare and Public health for Saint Louis University of Saint Louis, MO. The group will visit sites of interest in Havana and in the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Artemisia, Matanzas and Sancti Spiritus, meeting Cubans in these and related fields including:
family doctor clinics, polyclinics, hospitals, public schools and universities, mental and emotional health facilities, and institutions focused on issues of sex education, sexual orientation, gender and gender identity, a variety of community development projects, arts and ecology projects.
Evenings will alternate between panel discussions with Cuban professionals and students and the opportunity to enjoy Cuba's vibrant cultural scene: museums, concerts, salsa clubs and more.
